With the Golden State Warriors playing in the brand new Chase Center next season, the Bay Area, and San Francisco specifically, is about to feel the massive impact of the project’s undertakings.

1

The privately funded $1.4 billion state of the art arena will sit on a four-city-block parcel on the water in the Mission Bay area of San Francisco. Along with the high-tech arena, the site will feature an enormous outdoor video board, a 5½ acre park, an outdoor plaza with restaurants and shops, and two modern office buildings that will be rented by Uber.

2

Obviously, an attraction as grandiose as this new stadium will come with a dramatic increase in pricing. There is now a $15,000 membership fee in order to have the rights to buy season tickets, which will see a 10% increase in price. With the higher prices, the Warriors are guaranteed to see a shift in the attendees, from the middle-class die-hard fans of Oakland to the Silicon Valley hotshots looking to impress clients rather than watch basketball.

3

All these changes will ultimately begin to increase the housing prices in the San Francisco area, which, as we all know, are high enough as is. However, for students, interns, and young techies, there is an option that will prove to be more stable and affordable than most other alternatives. Communal or co-living residences provide this relevant demographic with a unique opportunity to curtail the effects of these dramatic economic changes. More affordable than apartments, shared housing also provide all the essential amenities to live comfortably, including fully furnished common areas, industrial kitchens, and Wi-fi and utilities.

4

The dramatic influx of business elites that is sure to follow the new complex, will flood the city with middle aged executives. Not only will the community living facilities be affordable, but they also provide the residents with a solid social network. Shared study spaces, lounging areas, and property-wide social events make for a meaningful community that can be hard to find in a big city. Those who have lived in these shared spaces before have raved about the meaningful relationships they have developed right in their homes.

5

Ellie Burnfield, who has lived in a communal residence for over a year claims that her community has become so close they even spend holidays together.  She recounts, “We all had a big Friendsgiving, there were probably 30ish people there, and it was cool because it’s everyone you know — they are all your friends, because you go to all the [building] events together.”

Urbanests provides fully furnished shared housing in San Francisco. With temporary and short term housing available, it is perfect for students and young professionals looking for single rooms or roommates. At Urbanests, we have room rentals all throughout the heart of the city, prepared for the inevitable shift in preferences.

The current trend of rising housing prices coupled with the impending economic growth from the recently constructed Chase Center make for a concerning time for young professionals looking for housing in San Francisco. However, communal living residences might just have what it takes to save the day.

1

Co-living, especially in the San Francisco area, has been a trend that has been gaining lots of popularity recently in the housing industry. The recent rise in co-living has been of great help to students, interns, and tech-workers in the bay area and many more individuals are choosing this option when coming into the city.

So what exactly is co-living and why is it so prominent in large cities?

Co-living is actually a term that is short for communal living, where individuals such as entrepreneurs or interns are offered short-term housing when coming into a new city to work. It is especially common in cities such as San Francisco, the center of technology and innovation. The concept offers an opportunity to live in apartments and residences at a very affordable price, a fraction of what you might have paid for otherwise!

2

Apart from saving you money, choosing a shared community housing within San Francisco also offers you a chance to meet new friends and people with the same interests as you. Students, interns, and young professionals from all over the world choose our San Francisco shared rooms, offered at affordable prices, where they can participate in fun socials, events, and hangouts with all different kinds of friendly people.

3

Resident managers also live on-site and often organize fun social events such as pizza parties, game nights, and other opportunities for tenants to gather and meet other people living in the residence! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our blog on one of the social events offered at our property by clicking here

Not only does co-living directly benefit the tenants living in our affordable San Francisco rentals, it also helps the city of San Francisco in terms of its housing problems. As many people already know, housing shortages in the bay area are causing prices to rise tremendously, and finding short-term rentals can be difficult. Young professionals coming to work in the Silicon Valley are sometimes put in unexpected and stressful situations because of the high price of housing here. We at Urbanests completely understand these circumstances, and thankfully with the rise of co-living, housing costs are brought to a minimum and people like students and interns can live in the city for just a percentage of the price of what other people pay.

4

Not enough to convince you? How about imagining living in one of the biggest and most innovative tech-industries in the world, where all your necessities are just right around the corner! We have properties all around San Francisco, including SOMA, Union Square, Chinatown, and the Financial District so you will be sure to be located in a community of your choice. Additionally, all of our residences are within walking distance to stores, restaurants, cafes and public transportation such as Muni, BART and even cable cars.

5

Co-living is a concept that is fast-growing and will continue to grow in large cities such as San Francisco. Individuals are presented with luxury living at a fraction of the price while being able to meet other people in the residence with similar interests as them. Apart from offering students and professionals an affordable and realistic housing price, co-living also tackles San Francisco’s housing problems head on and offer a better community for everyone in the city. Urbanests is committed to providing every single tenant an experience that is hard to forget, and offers many different options/locations to satisfy all your housing needs!

1

The Exploratorium is a ceaseless learning laboratory that features over six-hundred exhibits in the museum. You are also free to explore any of your subject of interest as the laboratory features galleries and showings based on phenomenons such as making your own telescope, making a battery from a penny, and even turning garbage into gold! There are an endless number of fun activities to do in the museum and we are going to reveal some of our favorites!

Distorted Room

2

Are you a fan of Alice in Wonderland? If you are, then definitely take a peek into this seemingly normal room and you’ll see how people seem to get bigger and smaller as they walk around this exhibit, just like in the movie! This unusual room is made to give of an illusion of an average square room, but in reality, the ceiling on one side of the room is actually twice as high as the other! Don’t forget to bring your camera for some unforgettable pictures in this wonderfully bizarre room!

Colored Shadows

3

In this exhibit, make your shadows come to life in all sorts of different colors as you stand in front of the wall. You can make these colorful shadows walk, jump, or even dance in hues of purple, red, yellow, green, and blue. Just because you are in a museum, doesn’t mean you can’t have your own little dance party!

Spectral Meadow

4

Another colorful phenomenon, the Spectral Meadow is a piece of art that consists of various arrays of lights created by a rather unusual but famous artist… The Sun! Sunlight itself, after being filtered through diffraction gratings on the windows above the gallery, shines on the floor as well as the walls of the exhibit in beautiful colors. Being in this exhibit truly feels like you are immersed in the lights of a rainbow.

The Tactile Dome

Are you up for a challenge? The Tactile Dome is one of the most popular and loved exhibits in the Exploratorium where you have to walk, crawl, or climb your way out of a path completely covered by darkness! Heighten your senses to a maximum and challenge yourself to a maze completely in the dark!

Remember, the Exploratorium has hundreds of different exhibits available for all ages and these were only some of them. If you want to check out the rest of the fun activities, you can visit their website here.

2019 has officially ended and the new year is eagerly making its way into the world! San Franciscans all over the city are celebrating the new year with parties, dinners, and lots of fun gatherings in order to enter the 2020 with a positive attitude. As a tradition, this holiday also means reaching new ambitions and goals with the opportunity for a fresh start. Whether it is succeeding in a difficult class, living a healthier lifestyle, or even learning a new talent, we know that sometimes it isn’t always so easy to attain a goal that you have always wanted. So here are some secrets to making a new year resolution and sticking to it!

Plan Ahead

2

It is always a good idea to write down your goals and have a suitable plan as to exactly what you want to achieve. For example, the most common new year’s resolution is to start eating healthy and exercising. To attain that resolution, it would be helpful to start thinking about the times or days of the week you want to head to gym so that it fits into your schedule, or even about the healthier options that make it onto your grocery list. Having a good plan will keep you on track and give you motivation for following through with what you have written down.

Rewarding Yourself

3

It is not a surprise that a person would be more willing to follow through with something if there is a reward at the other end, especially one prepared by the person who knows you the most: your own self! Rewarding yourself can be an excellent motivation for sticking to that new lifestyle you have always wanted and can even be a great encouragement especially for the first few weeks of your resolution. Make some extra time to treat yourself to a spa day or a trip the movies!

Keep Trying

4

Making a change to a lifestyle that you have been following for years is challenging, so it is important to always have a good attitude towards your new goals no matter what happens. Remember that small missteps are always a part of reaching new goals, so don’t be discouraged and give up after making a mistake. It is also absolutely fine to start over and recommit yourself to your objective if you have to.

One Step At A Time

5

It may be tempting to try to achieve all your goals at once, but it is actually better if you spread out your strategy and aim for one objective at a time. When you attempt to do everything at once, it is a lot easier to get overwhelmed and discouraged, so concentrate on one thing that you believe you will be able to do, and move on to another once you have reached your goal.

Don’t forget to always have a positive outlook on the new year, and we hope that 2020 will be full of fun and surprises!

Happy New Year from all of us at Urbanests!
