1San Francisco is known for its diverse population and therefore has a wide variety of music all around the city. If you are a Jazz lover, the Fillmore Jazz Festival will be taking place on July 6th and July 7th this year covering twelve blocks in the Pacific Heights district. If you are an opera fan, the famous SF Opera will be having several shows both in June and July at the War Memorial Opera House. This year, there will be performances including Don Giovanni, Rigoletto, and many more!

2

There will also be several live music festivals featuring bands, singers, and more throughout the summer. One of the festivals is the Stern Grove Festival at the Stern Grove Park. These concerts will be happening every week starting in the middle of June all the way to August, and will have many popular singers and a different theme every single week! Best of all, admission is completely free! Another one of the biggest San Francisco music festivals is the Outside Lands Music Festival that will be happening during August 9th to August 11th. There will be over 70 bands performing for 3 days, including Twenty One Pilots, Childish Gambino, and blink-182!

This year, it will be happening on June 15th-16th and will have more than 20 food vendors, over 100 arts and crafts vendors, a kid’s chalk area, and Italian street painting. With the Golden State Warriors playing in the brand new Chase Center next season, the Bay Area, and San Francisco specifically, is about to feel the massive impact of the project’s undertakings.

1

The privately funded $1.4 billion state of the art arena will sit on a four-city-block parcel on the water in the Mission Bay area of San Francisco. Along with the high-tech arena, the site will feature an enormous outdoor video board, a 5½ acre park, an outdoor plaza with restaurants and shops, and two modern office buildings that will be rented by Uber.

2

Obviously, an attraction as grandiose as this new stadium will come with a dramatic increase in pricing. There is now a $15,000 membership fee in order to have the rights to buy season tickets, which will see a 10% increase in price. With the higher prices, the Warriors are guaranteed to see a shift in the attendees, from the middle-class die-hard fans of Oakland to the Silicon Valley hotshots looking to impress clients rather than watch basketball.

3

All these changes will ultimately begin to increase the housing prices in the San Francisco area, which, as we all know, are high enough as is. However, for students, interns, and young techies, there is an option that will prove to be more stable and affordable than most other alternatives. Communal or co-living residences provide this relevant demographic with a unique opportunity to curtail the effects of these dramatic economic changes. More affordable than apartments, shared housing also provide all the essential amenities to live comfortably, including fully furnished common areas, industrial kitchens, and Wi-fi and utilities.

4

The dramatic influx of business elites that is sure to follow the new complex, will flood the city with middle aged executives. Not only will the community living facilities be affordable, but they also provide the residents with a solid social network. Shared study spaces, lounging areas, and property-wide social events make for a meaningful community that can be hard to find in a big city. Those who have lived in these shared spaces before have raved about the meaningful relationships they have developed right in their homes.

5

Ellie Burnfield, who has lived in a communal residence for over a year claims that her community has become so close they even spend holidays together.  She recounts, “We all had a big Friendsgiving, there were probably 30ish people there, and it was cool because it’s everyone you know — they are all your friends, because you go to all the [building] events together.”

Urbanests provides fully furnished shared housing in San Francisco. With temporary and short term housing available, it is perfect for students and young professionals looking for single rooms or roommates. At Urbanests, we have room rentals all throughout the heart of the city, prepared for the inevitable shift in preferences.

The current trend of rising housing prices coupled with the impending economic growth from the recently constructed Chase Center make for a concerning time for young professionals looking for housing in San Francisco. However, communal living residences might just have what it takes to save the day.

The Exploratorium is a ceaseless learning laboratory that features over six-hundred exhibits in the museum. You are also free to explore any of your subject of interest as the laboratory features galleries and showings based on phenomenons such as making your own telescope, making a battery from a penny, and even turning garbage into gold! There are an endless number of fun activities to do in the museum and we are going to reveal some of our favorites!

Distorted Room

2

Are you a fan of Alice in Wonderland? If you are, then definitely take a peek into this seemingly normal room and you’ll see how people seem to get bigger and smaller as they walk around this exhibit, just like in the movie! This unusual room is made to give of an illusion of an average square room, but in reality, the ceiling on one side of the room is actually twice as high as the other! Don’t forget to bring your camera for some unforgettable pictures in this wonderfully bizarre room!

Colored Shadows

3

In this exhibit, make your shadows come to life in all sorts of different colors as you stand in front of the wall. You can make these colorful shadows walk, jump, or even dance in hues of purple, red, yellow, green, and blue. Just because you are in a museum, doesn’t mean you can’t have your own little dance party!

Spectral Meadow

4

Another colorful phenomenon, the Spectral Meadow is a piece of art that consists of various arrays of lights created by a rather unusual but famous artist… The Sun! Sunlight itself, after being filtered through diffraction gratings on the windows above the gallery, shines on the floor as well as the walls of the exhibit in beautiful colors. Being in this exhibit truly feels like you are immersed in the lights of a rainbow.

The Tactile Dome

The Tactile Dome is one of the most popular and loved exhibits in the Exploratorium where you have to walk, crawl, or climb your way out of a path completely covered by darkness!
